The Holiday Season is upon us. From now through Christmas, days will be filled with family, friends, holiday parties, shopping and the occasional group or family outing. But with some things going on in the next few weeks, what are the “Must See” events? One thing at the top of that list should be the San Antonio River of Lights.
The San Antonio River of Lights is renown for its holiday light show. The festivities begin on November 23rd with the Ford River Parade and Lighting Ceremony. For over 30 years, this spectacular one-hour parade along San Antonio’s River Walk has featured illuminated floats with celebrities, bands and lavishly-costumed participants. The parade goes on RAIN OR SHINE. Children 3 years of age or older will need a ticket.
From Friday, Saturday and Sunday December 2 through December of 18th, the holiday festivities continue with the Ford Fiesta de las Luminarias. During the Fiesta de las Luminarias, you can experience the Holiday serenity of the River Walk as you stroll along the lush banks of the San Antonio River guided by more than 6,000 Luminarias. Warmly glowing candles in sand-filled bags line the walkways to symbolically mark the “lighting of the way” for the Holy Family.
In addition, the River Walk itself will be lit up with Holiday Lights from November 23rd through January 2nd. A must see for the entire family.
